Workshops and Teaching

For more than ten years beginning and experienced writers have been coming to Sue's writing workshops to “stir up the mud at the bottom of the lake.”

Here are some comments from participants in writing workshops with Sue:

Jarvis Jay MastersOne of Sue's former writing students, Jarvis Jay Masters, is a prisoner on San Quentin's death row. He is the author of Finding Freedom: Writings From Death Row and is a frequent contributor to Turning Wheel magazine. Upcoming writing workshops

Celebrating the Spirits Within and Without

A Writing and Meditation Workshop at the time of the Day of the Dead

Susan Moon with Caitríona Reed
Friday, Nov. 3 – Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006
at Manzanita Village Retreat Center
Warner Springs, CA (near the Anza-Borrego Desert)

When you bring forth that which is within you, what you bring forth will save you. When you do not bring forth that which is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.
–Gospel of St Thomas

Here's what we'll do:
We'll respond together to the miracle of being alive.

In a supportive setting, we'll find words for the riches in our own experience, and we'll give them away again. We'll practice plagiarism and collaboration; remembering that from a dharmic perspective, everything is in the public domain.

We'll sit in the silence words are born from, and we'll write and write and write. We'll laugh—it's a promise—and we'll each take home a notebook full of the markings of our pens.

Bring body, breath, and playful mind.

Workshop dates:Friday, Nov. 3 – Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006
