Workshops and Teaching
For more than ten years beginning and experienced writers have been coming to Sue's writing workshops to “stir up the mud at the bottom of the lake.”
Here are some comments from participants in writing workshops with Sue:
- “Sue is very inspiring and teaches writing in a gracious and generous style.”
- “This was my third workshop with this teacher. I keep coming back because she is wonderfully attuned to students, creative, has enormous wisdom, is organized, has great handouts, useful exercises.”
- “Writing is a pain for me. I came because I wanted to tell my story. Sue eased the way with clear and simple instruction, and I found myself having fun.”
- “I got lots of writing done! Wonderful! I learned all kinds of practical ideas about writing, how to get going, and ways to edit. I recommitted myself to writing.”

When you bring forth that which is within you, what you bring forth will save you. When you do not bring forth that which is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.
–Gospel of St Thomas
Here's what we'll do:
We'll respond together to the miracle of being alive.
In a supportive setting, we'll find words for the riches in our own experience, and we'll give them away again. We'll practice plagiarism and collaboration; remembering that from a dharmic perspective, everything is in the public domain.
We'll sit in the silence words are born from, and we'll write and write and write. We'll laughit's a promiseand we'll each take home a notebook full of the markings of our pens.
Bring body, breath, and playful mind.
